Heads in the sand

I've written before about the prospect -- nay certainty -- that substantial parts of the globe will become uninhabitable, or at least not habitable by anything like the number of people who live there now, because of heat and drought. This is in fact already driving people from parts of the Middle East and Africa, but I have to think Americans will finally take notice when it happens to Nevada, Arizona and California

Seriously folks, there is no solution to this. One farmer in the linked story is planning to drill wells and irrigate with groundwater, but in case you didn't know, that is also a finite resource. And even if he does eke out a few more years, that isn't going to fill the faucets of Phoenix, Los Angeles or Las Vegas. Nobody is honestly contemplating the consequences. If it's a hoax by the Chinese, it's pretty damn successful.

There really isn't a whole lot more to say.

I recall reading something, years ago, about "remnant human populations near the poles." Capitalism can't solve this and most moderns can't imagine the end of capitalism, so.....
