A righteous rant

David Frum is a neocon who was, among other disgraces, a speechwriter for George W. Bush, ardently supported the invasion of Iraq and even worked for Rudy Giuliani's ill fated presidential campaign. So he's unforgivable. But even he has the wit to see the White House occupant for the witless narcissistic buffoon he is. And yes, the disaster has fallen upon us because of his utter unworthiness for the office he holds and the bottomless well of his vanity. This is long because it is an exhaustive bill of particulars. If you wish to comment, you must read the whole thing. That is all.b

Update: Some people's brains are falling out. David Frum is a wingnut conservative Republican. That is specified in the first sentence of the above post. He isn't "politicizing" the crisis, he is reciting a litany of facts, in direct contravention of his wingnut conservative political interests. The concrete skulls of cult followers are obviously impenetrable by any combination of facts and logic. .Your brain has stopped functioning. You should check into a mental hospital.

Well, I read it all.

It is so alarming in so many regards. Trump's obsession with Iran while the virus gathered power ... his revenge on whistleblowers ... his pre-adolescent speech patterns and behavior ... his inability to take responsibility for any single act or deed in his life, and the continued obsequiousness of his followers, regardless ... his ineffable lies and narcissism ... his assertion that he is not responsible for acts committed by his administration, that he's exonerated because he may not have known what the people he hired are doing.

Excerpts: "Trump does not speak clearly. His patterns of speech betray a man with guilty secrets to hide, and a beclouded mind."

"The White House had dissolved the directorate of the National Security Council responsible for planning for and responding to pandemics[.] 'Not me,' Trump said on March 13. Maybe somebody else in the administration did it, but 'I didn’t do it ... I don’t know anything about it. You say we did that. I don’t know anything about it.”' [GASP!]

"As the pandemic kills, as the economic depression tightens its grip, Donald Trump has consistently put his own needs first. Right now, when his only care should be to beat the pandemic, Trump is renegotiating his debts with his bankers and lease payments with Palm Beach County."

What TRULY alarms me is that congressional Republicans under McConnell maintain a wall of impunity around Trump so that their agenda of stacking the courts with racist,women-hating far-right Christians and Libertarians will help the U.S. achieve a totalitarian extremist terrorist state that possesses hegemony over all the world, including its own people. (Frum alludes to this in the article, as well as Krugman.) Their power grab is written about in the Guardian (UK) and in the NY Times, and may be coming to all the states, including the one you live in, this November, as the Republicans attempt to make ALL states Wisconsin:
