A word about football

Not foobaw this time, but the original football, that grew up on the imperial and imperious fields of Eton. The English invented it, but their football team, like their empire, has long been in eclipse.

Here's a bit of advice. When you are winning, press your advantage, keep attacking, finish them off. Do not go into a crouch and invite your opponent to attack you. This goes double if Lionel Messi is among your opponents. The Argentine coach was smart and put Messi on the wing where he could get the ball down low, nullify the offsides, and set up his teammates with astonishingly beautiful, immaculate crosses. Yes, they had to finish the play, but I would say that his two assists were more impressive than two goals would have been. In fact, if Messi had been in the middle, he likely would not have scored, because he didn't have Messi to pass to him.

But I digress. The English are eating bitterness right now, but in fact they've been drowning in their own excrement for a decade. They did it to themselves.  Now, as for the United States . . .

Meanwhile, since everything that DJ Shitler touches dies, if he does in fact show up to the football final tomorrow Spain will win.

To address the underlying implications of your post: yes, Brecit it was a disaster that the English walked into willingly because, as in the United States today, every single person in a position of prominence seems incapable of rowsing the populace to the reality that their government is led by mad fools who are walking them into catastrophe.

Also, thank you for using prose as precise as Messi's passes against England to describe those moments of beauty.
