Situational Ethics

A town in Georgia is contemplating an ordinance requiring every household to own a firearm. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the same people who agree with the local police chief that "I think y'all are showing the people that you're in full support of the Constitution, and as far as the Second Amendment goes, that you stand behind it, you stand behind people's rights," also think that it's tyranny to require them to buy health insurance.

I doubt they've even thought about that.

Beautiful comeback. No, they aren't thinking about health care . . . or much of anything. They're basically reacting as part of a herd.

Why do we need the insurance industry to even exist?

Since its inception health insurance has raised the price of health care goods and services. If insurance was banned these prices would fall.

The government could simply help pitch in when people don't have enough money of their own.
