Poor, feeble impotent God

Something I find very difficult to understand about religious fanatics is their assumption that God can't take care of himself. Blasphemy laws or just denunciation of blasphemy are one example of this ridiculous, contradictory idea. God needs you to protect him from me? Then what use is he to you?

Now, via PZ, there's this

White nationalist Nick Fuentes admits the election proves that "we are in the minority" and "that's why we need a dictatorship": "We need to take control of the media or take control of the government and force the people to believe what we believe."

The obvious internal contradiction of Christian dominionism, or any form of theocracy, is the assumption that God's dominion needs to be enforced by human thuggery, as we see right now in Saudi Arabia and most visibly in Iran. And note that the leaders of both of those countries wish to kill each other as blasphemers. If God is all powerful he can enforce his own dominion. If you need to fight with other people to impose your vision of God's dominion, and you either can't do it at all or you can only do it in a tiny slice of the earth, God is a wimp. Find yourself a better cause.

Find a bigger God.

As Richard Pryor said about Christianity:

"Jesus saves?

N_____ couldn't even save his OWN ass!"
