As the president elect is manifestly insane, it behooves us to try to diagnose his motives and logic. Robert Kennedy Junior as secretary of HHS, Matt Gaetz as Attorney General, and Pete Hegseth as secretary of defense are all completely ludicrous. While the expectation that they would be toadies of the Great Pumpkin may be a factor, it would be possible to find flunkies who are otherwise less absurd.
In my unprofessional opinion, the real reason for these preposterous nominations is twofold. One is just the enjoyment of transgression and outrage. He can get away with anything, and that's fun. The second and probably more important motive is to force the Republican senators to demonstrate their absolute fealty by voting to turn the federal government into a clown car. I do believe that is a mistake, because it will be possible to find three or four Republican senators who won't go along with such a travesty.
That's what gives me hope. The guy is so sick at soul that it renders him incompetent. Yes, slightly more than half the voters apparently like the idea of lunatic as president, but now that he's gotten the votes, he has to wield power. I'm thinking maybe he can't manage that.

Again, it comes down to the conversation Chucky and I have been having from a few posts ago. Shitler is twisted, sick, insane. But does he have dementia or not?
Because if he truly is as incompetent as he is incontinent, then some other sick bastard (Bannon?) is playing this sadistic game, calling the twisted shots that make anyone who is sane squirm.
I understand that a psychotic can be totally divorced from reality in some areas and completely rational in others. Despite his obvious emotional and moral disabilities, I believe he is an absolute genius in others. His campaign was filled with dog whistles so subtle that the folks responding to them weren't even aware which cords in their psyche he was plucking. I think his opponents also missed the actual messages he was broadcasting. I've listened to Biden voters who switched to Trump and gave reasons like, "I think he is telling the truth", or "I think he can heal the divisions in our country". Only a genius can convince people to so distrust what their own 'lying eyes' are telling them.
My biggest hope is that, when his (intelligent) Republican supporters realize just how toxic Trump really is, they will find where they left their backbones - and get far away from him before the general citizenry find out how badly they've been duped and come looking for him and his enablers with pitchforks and torches.
Holy crap, Chucky! That was incredibly well written and well reasoned.
It is such a bizarre circumstance, that an individual who is so able to manipulate people with a combination of bluster and nuance is so utterly clueless in terms of compassion and empathy that everything he touches dies. How perverse!
Kind of an inverse Midas touch?
Yep. Everything he touches dies. Perversely, so many people are in denial that they flock to the person who is in the greatest denial.
