It's enough to shake my faith in atheism

No, not really. It was pretty much inevitable that the Dumpster would get infected, given his incredibly irresponsible behavior. What's surprising is that it took so long. That it's also ripping through the top White House staff, Republican Senators, and the damn fool president of Notre Dame is also not surprising since they all shared in the magical thinking that biology doesn't apply to them.

We don't know how sick people will get, of course. The one individual in all this with the most concerning risk factors is of course the one who is old and fat. We can count on them not to tell the truth about how sick he really is, or becomes, so people are wildly speculating. That they would hospitalize him just as a precaution is plausible,. Of course you or I would not be hospitalized unless we were very sick, but I don't know that we can draw any conclusions from that.

That he was given an experimental antibody treatment is puzzling some people. The only information we have about this is from a press release by the company doing the experiments, Regeneron. Some M.D.s (see link) think this is an indication that he must be very sick and it's an act of desperation, but again I don't necessarily buy that. He has a thing for unproven treatments, as we know, and the president of Regeneron turns out to be a buddy. So we'll have to see.

In any case, like I keep saying, reality is real. The Wile E. Coyote strategy of preventing falling by not looking down doesn't actually work. Maybe this will at least convince a few people to stop being damn fools.

La commedia è stupenda!

And soon we'll be saying, "La commedia è finita." Can't wait. Hubris, incompetence, stupidity, arrogance, chutzpah, repulsiveness.
