Truth . . .

Surprisingly hard to define. I'm going to give those who are interested in exploring the question "What is Truth?" (which is, I suppose, the Last Common Ancestor of all questions) some links. These are not for the faint-hearted!

A review of how philosophers (i.e., highly trained, professional bullshit artists, and I mean that in a good way) have addressed the question of truth -- but how are we to assess the truth value of statements about truth? From The Internet Encylopedia of Philosophy. Will probably make your head hurt and may not leave you feeling enlightened, but at least it shows that this ain't easy.

An essay on Critical Thinking (pdf) by Peter Facione. Critical thinking is the father of knowledge.

The Skeptic's Dictionary. Yup, "Creationism" is in there.

Back soon with some more mundane matters.

Addendum: Best book review of the calendar quarter.
