This . . .

is completely fucking insane. You might think these people deserve what they get but their friends and family don't. As for what happens to Pence, don't ask me to comment.

Aaarrgh. Christianity. It is truly religion's problem child. And that's saying something.

I got to work today to read an email saying one of my co-workers (in the same office) has been diagnosed and will be quarantined. Another email from HR says his office will be "cleaned accordingly", whatever that means.
I had been working remotely, but was told I had to return to the office, and have been back since June 2.
I wear a mask all day (the only one in the office that does so); stay at my desk; communicate via phone and email; keep my window open; wash my hands after touching the door handles; eat lunch in my car.
I watch: people congregate in small offices chatting and talking (primarily in the one of the person who was diagnosed); people come in and out of the office not washing their hands; visitors from outside the company coming in without face coverings and spending considerable time in the non-ventilated spaces with our employees (who are also not wearing face coverings); watch people congregate for lunch. One person even stood at my desk sniffling, writing something on a piece of paper, handed it to me and then had to tell me what they wrote on it. Instead of sending me an email. (Early on in the year, he expressed the wish that he would get the disease, to prove that "old people" in good shape can survive. He is 72.)
Almost all who were working remotely have been required to return, without good explanation.
I am hoping what I have done so far to keep myself and my elderly parents safe is enough.
I would quit, but I have financial obligations. I have been trying to get employment elsewhere, someplace that takes the pandemic more seriously, but at my age that is tough to do.
Yay, Capitalism! It may kill us all yet.

Brown is still closed and we're working remotely. I don't know how long this can go on, however. Instruction in particular is a problem but it may not have a solution. I'm trying to carry on with my research but it's difficult. I can understand why people are in denial but that's what it is. If they don't act responsibly it's just going to cause them more trouble and misery in the long run. We're up against some basic human weaknesses here.
