State Sen. Fuckwit Ford has introduced legislation to fix the country's real problem:
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 3, Chapter 15, Title 16 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 16-15-370. (A) It is unlawful for a person in a public forum or place of public accommodation wilfully and knowingly to publish orally or in writing, exhibit, or otherwise make available material containing words, language, or actions of a profane, vulgar, lewd, lascivious, or indecent nature.
(B) A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."
Don't know if this ridiculous fucking shit will pass, but either way, nothing would please me more than for the South to secede again. Then we'd have a whole nation of dipshits.

this just proves the truth of what molly ivans used to say about the sheer entertainment value of state legislatures. she was speaking of texas, but one could probably find examples from the golden state to the empire state and beyond.
obviously, the hon. mr. ford has not spent much time in the prosecutors' offices, military bases, high schools, and/or sports bars of the palmetto state, or he'd have to think about enforcement issues with "felony bad words."
on the other hand, SC is pretty good at *passing* crazy laws. there are some Defenders of the Good there, though.
My beloved gun-loving, rightwing brother (I truly love him, but he's not speaking to me anymore since I guffawed when he told a group of us to read Jonah Goldberg to learn why fascism is the result of liberalism) wants to move to SC. I was wondering what troglodyte laws in SC were issuing forth that siren call he could not ignore. This is not one that he'd be all that comfortable with. He likes to cuss a lot. I suspect that he will settle there and after some years find himself quite unhappy.
