. . . because he averted the destruction of human civilization.
That makes perfect sense.
Ask a stupid question; A commenter asks "And what reason was offered up by Millie or Pelosi that made them so afraid of Trump that they would collude against a sitting president?"
Read the above. The destruction of civilization.
Anyway, they didn't, that's a misrepresentation of what happened. Some people are a) unable to read the plain meaning of a simple English sentence and b) incapable of perceiving irony.

La commedia è stupenda!
Sir, you are a seer! You predicted this mutiny a couple of posts back.
It seems like the Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are generally sane, decent adults who would protect us from the possibility of our country being turned into a smoking cinder by a deranged President. Some dangerous people have managed to rise fairly high in the ranks (Michael Flynn and Curtis LeMay come to mind), but afik they've been weeded out before they get to chair the JCS. They're still usually too political to stop the bogus blunders that the military is prone to.
But there ARE limits!
Anyone who knows anything understands that Mark Milley has always been a paranoid dipshit. That he wrote himself masturbatory fanfic about his latest savior fantasy is not news. Next.
Well I don't know anything particularly about Milley, but conversations of CJCS with foreign military leaders are observed by several people and recorded, so I'm pretty sure the events described in Woodward's book did happen. On the other hand, they were routine and in no way improper.
