Memorialization

After the Sept. 11, 2001 attack, it took a long time before artists could respond. A couple of attempts turned out to be premature and were not well received. The first response that really worked was by Bruce Springsteen, which was presented as a song on an album which was otherwise politically controversial but the poem about the World Trade Center was not. It was the last vision of a firefighter climbing the stairs in one of the towers with a hose on his shoulder.

This is the poem.

Can't see nothing in front of me
Can't see nothing coming up behind
I make my way through this darkness
I can't feel nothing but this chain that binds me
Lost track of how far I've gone
How far I've gone, how high I've climbed
On my back's a sixty pound stone
On my shoulder half mile of line

Come on up for the rising
Come on up lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Left the house this morning
Bells ringing filled the air
I was wearing the cross of my calling
On wheels of fire I come rolling down here

Come on up for the rising
Come on up lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

There's spirits above and behind me
Faces gone black, eyes burning bright
May their precious blood bind me
Lord as I stand before your fiery light

I see you Mary in the garden
In the garden of a thousand sighs
There's holy pictures of our children
Dancing in a sky filled with light
May I feel your arms around me
May I feel your blood mix with mine
A dream of life comes to me
Like a catfish dancing on the end of my line

Sky of blackness and sorrow (a dream of life)
Sky of love, sky of tears (a dream of life)
Sky of glory and sadness (a dream of life)
Sky of mercy, sky of fear (a dream of life)
Sky of memory and shadow (a dream of life)
Your burning wind fills my arms tonight
Sky of longing and emptiness (a dream of life)
Sky of fullness, sky of blessed life

Come on up for the rising
Come on up lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight
This was presented tonight on television as a sort of joyous celebration. Perhaps that is one valid way of looking at it.

Well, here's some good news.

That has been happening for 8 years.

You're correct, and it's been accelerating lately.

The economy added 2.2 million jobs in 2017, with the unemployment ending the year at 4.1 percent.

Things ARE getting better. It's all good news.

"Anonymous" has shown one thing only--that he is a hopeless idiot. But we all know that. When I asked if anyone would like to come forward and tell the rest of us that they like his posts, no one obliged.

There is a very clear reason for that. No one takes Anonymous, Gay Boy Bob, whatever his handle of choice is, seriously.

But then again, America elected, with the help of Vladimir Putin and Fox News, a man whom no one should EVER take seriously. A man who never was taken seriously, and who still isn't to anyone with eyes to see.

So let's not ever underestimate the scary power of ignorance and stupidity. There are a lot of people like Gay Boy Bob/"Anonymous" out there, and the rest of us must be educated, vocal and vigilant so that we can reverse recent disasters.

VOTE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2018! And we can begin the process of throwing the charlatans out (a.k.a., the people that guys like GBB/"A" vote for). Then GBB/"A" and his ilk can crawl back into the woodwork, where they belong.

Constantly telling the voters how stupid they are is not a winning strategy.

I would ask anyone that promotes an alternative to those currently in power to offer up their vision for:

*Trade
*The economy
*Border security

That's what voters care about and that's *exactly* how Republicans won.

"Anonymous" uses the phrase "good news" because he is a so-called "Christian."

He is nothing of the sort--or, if he is, then Christianity is a crock of shit. People like "Anonymous" are cowardly, unteachable, narrow-minded, etc. Christianity hasn't saved shit ... as Richard Pryor so aptly noted, Jesus couldn't even save his OWN ass.

"Anonymous" is also delusional and/or disingenuous. He pretends things are "great" when they are "atrocious" [NB: climate change, nuclear proliferation, routine mass killings, no gun law changes, the destruction of the American representative republic, crumbling infrastructure, increase in greenhouse gas emissions, a ruling party that kidnaps and tortures children, rampant racism that "Anonymous" denies because he's a practitioner, and a lying, narcissistic charlatan in the White House, supported by a soulless, utterly corrupt party that people like "Anonymous" {a.k.a. "Gay Boy Bob") vote for], and he pretends he never heard of someone named "Bernie Sanders."

In short, "Anonyous" is completely, irrevocably full of shit.

But he keeps playing his broken record.

He has no supporters on this site, is not welcome here, but forces his distasteful, manipulative presence on the rest of us--probably because he is ineffably insecure. If I were that kind of "Christian," I'd feel the same way--with good reason.
